Urdd Eisteddfod

The Urdd Eisteddfod, Wales’ largest national youth organisation, celebrates its 100-year centenary in 2022.

It is an incredible festival , celebrating Welsh culture and traditions, and is a time when young people from all over Wales come together to share their love of music, dance, poetry, and drama.

The atmosphere is always amazing: everyone there is so friendly and happy! You’ll make friends with people who are just as excited about being there as you are!

To celebrate the Urdd’s 100th  Centenary , we at Llaeth Y Llan sponsored this year’s event held in Denbigh , and ran an art competition for children to design the inner sleeve and lid of our Big Pots! We received a huge number of entries, with some fantastic designs which made the decision to choose a winner very difficult , we all eventually agreed on two fantastic pieces of artwork.

Winners

Kiki Johnson, age 10 designed this colourful scene which was inspired by the local beach she visits with her family on days out. Her design will be transformed into a ‘colour me in’ picture on the inner sleeve of our big pots, making it a fun activity for your kids to colour in after finishing one of our epic yogurts.

Rhys Thomas, age 8 drew this amazing picture of a cow from his family farm surrounded by the idyllic Welsh countryside. His design will be featured on the lid of our big pots for you all to see before you tuck into our delicious yogurt.

We invited both winners to visit our factory with their families and see how we make yogurt. At the Urdd Eisteddfod festival Owain Roberts presented both winners with a framed print of their artwork and a mock-up of the finished yogurt pot with their designs.

Keep your eyes peeled over the coming weeks when these amazing designs will be on the shelf and news of our next competition!
